Garden Grove, Orange County
The glass church on Chapman Avenue in Garden Grove was finished in 1980 for the television ministry of Robert Schuller. Architects Philip Johnson and John Burgee wrapped its steel frame in more than ten thousand panes of mirrored glass, and it became known as the Crystal Cathedral. The Roman Catholic Diocese of Orange later bought the campus and rededicated the building as Christ Cathedral in 2019.
